Senior Punjab minister Bibi Jagir Kaur has been arrested and sent to jail after being held guilty of conspiracy in the mysterious death of her daughter in April 2000. However, the court dropped murder charges against her.
A court in Patiala on Friday sentenced Jagir Kaur, minister for rural water supply and sanitation and defence services, to five years rigorous imprisonment.
She has resigned "on moral grounds" from the government that has just been re-elected to power.
19-year-old Harpeet Kaur was found dead on April 20, 2000 when Jagir Kaur was president of the powerful Shiromani Gurudwara Prabandhak Committee (SGPC) and was forced to resign after allegations that she was responsible for the death. The case has been a complex one mainly because the investigation only began a few months after Harpreet's death and since there was no post mortem conducted, it made things difficult for the Central Bureau of Investigation. Harpreet was rushed to hospital from her mother's home by her domestic help and a doctor who later turned approver in the case. Doctors declared her dead on arrival, and no post-mortem was conducted. Many witnesses have turned hostile since the trial began, including the man responsible for ensuring Harpreet's death was first investigated as a homicide. On April 27, 2000, a man named Kamaljit Singh petitioned the Punjab High Court to commission an inquiry into Harpreet's death. He said Harpreet had married him secretly because her mother was opposed to their relationship. He produced photos and a video of their wedding to support his allegations. He said Harpreet was pregnant with their child and that Jagir Kaur had forced her to have an abortion.
The case was then handed to the CBI. But Kamaljit also turned hostile after that. He said that the video of the wedding that he had submitted was a ceremony staged on camera to pressure Jagir Kaur; he said he did not actually marry Harpreet. Along with Jagir Kaur, six other people had been tried for her daughter's murder. One died during the course of the trial; two others have been acquitted today.

blue]Islam is based around the belief that Muhammad is the Seal of the prophets. It came into existence in the seventh century and views Jews, Christians and Muslims as "People of the Book", as all three major faiths are part of the Abrahamic religions. Muslims also believe Adam, Noah, Abraham, Moses, David and Jesus were prophets. Sikhism came into existence in the fifteenth century. It is the fifth-largest organized religion in the world and one of the fastest-growing. The Sikh Gurus (or teachers) have emphasized recognizing all humans as equal before Waheguru, regardless of colour, caste, race, gender or religion. The Sikh[COLOR Gurus did not call themselves prophets. The emphasis is on a single all pervading God and creating a relationship with him. There is no place for intermediaries. Sikhs embody the qualities of a Sant-Sipahie, a saint-soldier. One must have control over one's internal vices and be able to be constantly immersed in virtues clarified in the Guru Granth Sahib. A Sikh must also have the courage to defend the rights of all who are wrongfully oppressed or persecuted irrespective of religion, colour, caste or creed. Baptized Sikhs are initiated into the Khalsa Panth, the Khalsa is Akal Purakh de fauj - the Army of God. Guru Gobind Singh (10th guru of Sikhism) clearly choose these words very deliberately - He did not state that the Khalsa was the army of the Khalsa or an army of the Sikhs or the army of Punjab - but an Army of God whose function was the protection and safeguarding of all the peoples of God regardless colour, caste, race, gender or religion. The book of the Muslims is known as the Qu'ran, Islam believes the angel Gabriel was the medium through whom God revealed the Qur'an to Muhammad, and that he sent a message to all prophets. The Sikh holy book is known as the Guru Granth Sahib, it contains the teachings of the Sikh Gurus and includes passages from both Hindu and Sufi saints. The Sikh Gurus have referred to their compositions as dhur ki bani or the word of primal divine source. Again, no intermediary communicated this word of God. The spread of Islam in South Asia was greatly aided by many Islamic dynasties that ruled parts of the Indian subcontinent starting from the 12th century. The prominent ones include the Delhi Sultanate (1206–1526) and the Mughal Empire (1526–1857). The Sikh gurus frequently came into direct confrontation with some of the Mughal rulers due to the Sikh faith's opposition to forced conversions. The Sikhs abolished Mughal rule in the whole province in one stroke and where the first army in history to destroy the Mughal Empire and conquer Afghanistan, which lead to the creation of a Sikh Empire in the late-17th century. By the late-18th century, the British Empire had extended their Empire east towards the Punjab which lead to British invading the Empire of the Sikhs. Soon after the British army began recruiting large number of Sikhs into the British Army, in which the Sikhs made up to 25% of the soldiers in World War I and World War II. This was under the Martial Race Theory that Sikhs were born warriors, which proved true as the Sikhs were awarded 14 Victoria Crosses for their bravery and over 27 battle honours (a record). Sikhism is opposed to the concept of forced conversions and strongly believes in the fatherhood of an omnipresent, omnipotent and all pervasive God and brotherhood of man. Sikhs believe in one God and basic foundation elements of Sikh lifestyle involves five principles, which are Nām Japō or Simran "meditation on Waheguru", Kirat Karō "honest labor", Vaṇḍ Chakkō or Sewa "charity to the community", Bana "Sikh attire or Dress code", and Shastar "physicality defend oneself and others". Guru Nanak Dev was the founder of Sikhism, the teachings of the first five Sikh Gurus were compiled by the fifth Guru, Guru Arjan Dev into the Guru Granth Sahib. These included teachings of saints of the Hindu and Muslim faith also. The Tenth Guru, Guru Gobind Singh, before his death, declared the Guru Granth Sahib as the eternal guru of the Sikhs for all times to come, and copies were distributed by Baba Deep Singh and Bhai Mani Singh to Sikhs

There are many questions surrounding the stay of execution of of Balwant Singh Rajoana, who was sentenced for his involvement in the 1995 assassination of Beant Singh — the former chief minister of Punjab who spear headed the genocide against Sikhs in the region. But Rajoana’s sentence has since been stayed. Beant Singh gave police officers the authority to carry-out extrajudicial executions, targeting and killing civilian Sikhs on the spot. This led to fake “encounter” killings, illegal detention, torture and . Beginning in 1984, and continuing until his assassination, an estimated 9,000-30,000 Sikhs were murdered in Punjab. During Beant Singh’s reign, thousands of Sikhs were killed for being “suspicious,” despite claims that there were only approximately 300 armed Nationalist Sikhs. After the death of Beant Singh in 1995, the senseless murders of Sikhs stopped. Why is the Sikh population displaying insurmountable support and rallying to stop the execution of Rajoana, who many consider a terrorist? The fact of the matter is that Sikhs do not support terrorists or terrorism, but are looking for equal treatment and justice in the so-called secular democracy known as India. Sikhs and Muslims are minorities in India and are often jailed without a court hearing, not allowed to fight their cases, given more severe penalties than their non-Sikh inmates, and given longer jail terms and intentionally delayed sentences. In 1984, tens of thousands of Sikhs were killed in riots in Delhi that were believed to be led by accused Indian politicians Kumar and Tytler, but due to “technicalities,” their cases have been stayed. These riots happened almost 30 years ago, but these people are allowed to walk free. In 2003, accused politician Modi, started riots that led to the killings of thousands of Muslims in Gujarat. To this day, he walks free. The minority Sikhs have long been oppressed by the Indian government. Corruption and discrimination have plagued Rajoana’s case and, as a result, there has been an outcry for justice. It is often said that there is no justice for Sikh prisoners in India. By displaying their support for Rajoana, Sikhs are expressing their desire that a single standard be applied to all people in India. Rajoana has always accepted responsibility for his crime and refused an appeal. He accepts the death penalty. People are simply arguing that the government should not hang Rajoana, until they hang other people who have committed similar crimes — to show the same commitment to human rights and the rule of law when the Indian state, its forces, its bureaucrats and its politicians commit heinous crimes against humanity. The inconsistencies are too harsh to ignore. Kishori Lal, the “Butcher of Trilokpuri,” was released following three death sentences for going on a Sikh murdering spree in 1984. Today, many police officers and politicians who committed human rights violations and were involved in the Sikh genocide live freely and have worked their way up the political ladder. It appears the only fate for a Sikh political prisoner is the hangman’s noose. There are numerous other legitimate reasons why Rajoana should not be executed:
- There are 2 other Sikh men who were involved in the killing, their trials are still pending (conveniently still in jail and awaiting fair trial for 17 years). So how can one man be hung when the other cases are not officially over. - There is an ongoing explosives case on Rajoana in Patiala Court; the Advocate General can issue a writ to the court to suspend the hanging until the pending case is solved. - Rajoana was not the actual murderer of Beant Singh (the murderer died in the bombing); he was a conspirator. So why is he being executed after spending 17 years in jail?
You must ask yourself, are these these actions consistent with the values of a liberal democracy? Would you not be upset? This is precisely why the Sikh population around the world is joining hands and supporting Rajoana. To us, Rajoana is a freedom fighter whose intent was not to kill innocents, but rather criminals, and to bring justice to Punjab. If someone had successfully killed Hitler, would that man be considered a terrorist? Maybe by Hitler supporters. When All Hopes of addressing a wrong had failed, Rajoana was left with no alternative. He did what the Indian government failed, or chose not, to do: He stopped the violence in Punjab! Rajoana and others took matters into their own hands, took down a tyrant and allowed the state of Punjab to live in peace. If you wish to try Rajoana and hang him, you must hand down the same sentence to the many other men who murdered Sikhs in cold blood. I am a Sikh and we do not support terrorism. The Sikhs of Canada and around the world support Rajoana for ridding the world of an evil man. The population would not be opposed to the death penalty handed out to Rajoana, had the others been tried just as equally.

Balwant Singh Rajoana is an Indian Sikh convicted for the assassination of Punjab CM Beant Singh on August 31, 1995. Rajoana was sentenced to death by a special court in India.[1] The killing was in retaliation for the alleged human rights violations during the counter-insurgency operations carried out under the Beant Singh government. Beant Singh was killed by Balwant Singh's associate Dilawar Singh Babbar; Balwant Singh was the backup human bomb to be used had Dilawar failed in his mission.Assassination of Beant Singh Beant Singh was the Chief Minister of the Indian state of Punjab between 1992 and 1995, at a time when the Khalistan separatist movement was active in that state and the Indian government was aggressively seeking to control the movement. It is alleged that, during Beant Singh's tenure, thousands of Sikhs were killed and their bodies cremated by the police in extrajudicial executions. Rajoana, who was a police constable at that time, conspired with Dilawar Singh Babbar, a police officer, to kill Beant Singh. Based on a coin toss, Babbar was chosen to be the suicide bomber with Rajoana as a backup. The attack was successfully carried out on 31 August 1995 and, on 25 December 1997, Rajoana confessed his involvement. Conviction and death sentence Balwant Singh had “openly confessed” an involvement and strongly expressed no faith in Indian judiciary. He refused to defend himself accusing Indian courts of applying dual standards of law and the Indian judicial system of shielding the culprits of 1984 anti-Sikh riots ”Asking for mercy from them (Indian courts) is not even in my distant dreams” Rajoana said in a open letter to Media. Balwant Singh explained his actions referring to the Operation Blue Star, the 1984 anti-Sikh riots following Indira Gandhi's assassination and alleged human rights violations during the anti-insurgency operations in Punjab. Rajoana was sentenced to death by a special court and his execution scheduled for 31 March 2012.] In his will, Balwant Singh said that his wish was to donate his eyes to Lakhwinder Singh (Ragi at Golden Temple Amritsar) and his kidneys, heart or any other body part to needy patients. On March 28, 2012 India's Home Ministry stayed the execution following clemency appeals filed by the government of Punjab and protests in Punjab and by Sikh communities world wide Currently in canada there are daily protest and the rise of a free khalistan has began this movement was left dormant for a while after santh bhindran walla died .. but now it is back even stronger it is scarey for me I see the sea of flags of khalistan displayed on peoples property and there vehicles here in brampton, yet people back in India seem so unaware of this story and yet here the gurudwara is full every day people making speaches for a free kahlistan state, It seems a hornets nest has been opened and this time there will be no end to it.
I would please like to hear your views on this.

[COLOR indigo]I find it interesting while just sitting in the lobby watching people chat men over 40 are always trying to entice a 24 year old I don't get it may be I am fickle ??
I look at it this way you are over 40 the person your going after is most probably your daughters age, Now how ugly is that thought.
I see women over 50 giggling like little school girls because some one under 30 say you don't look your age I get it we all love attention but seriously I feel guilty when I chat with some young man that is my sons age whom by the way is now 31 Inside my heart I feel 29. I keep my limits with the chatters, I enjoy chatting with every one.
But where do we draw the line? it bothers me and I want to shake that man over 40 and say " Sicko she could be your kid" And another thing that bothers me the most is when a man says to me " My wife does not mind me having a female Friend"
I think what your wife is saying Your smelly, Dirty and hairy let some other Biotch deal with you I'll just be a wife who spends your money and does not have to put up with your dirty stench and dirty sick mind.
Every woman in IFF is a goddess every one of the ladies deserves to be happy, So why settle for some other women's hand me downs??
Every man over 40 should act his age and stop pursuing the poor young girls in here. Even when they call you uncle you still sit there in your pathetic draws doing the nasty on the other side of the screen you take great pleasure in abusing women if they don't reciprocate your advances? There are some very few wonderful young men in IFF who always with out question treat women with respect.
I just wanted to vent sorry for the typo's poor grammar etc if you do not like what I wrote you can "BITE ME"

Just finished reading your new bio and noticed that you look like an interesting pain in the butt. Gotta love a girl who knows NPR, can share an espresso and have an edge at the same time (That’s as long as you are that cute woman from the photo, and not some 900 pound woman who stole her cute friend photo to attract a gorgeous “boy” just like me) anywayssss, I’m sure that there’s a lot more to you than what you put in your profile, and definitely it would be interesting to discover the rest and also to see how you behave in public and if you can be nice to the stuff (waiter/waitresses) if we ever to meet. Hopefully you are not a typical Indian which will be very refreshing on date (and I’m sure you know what I am talking about with all those corny Emails and generic personalities) so if you are emotionally available and you are NOT taking any prescription drugs these days, and you ready to stop browsing and start spending time with someone real write back and say hi (But please do not use hi, as you can see it’s already taken) Looking forward to do some brainstorming.
Don’t be shy
crazy ppl love getting emails funny ones espcially
